Whether in a home, office, or apartment building, silence is a valuable asset. Unwanted noise affects comfort, concentration, and behavior, and in apartment buildings can even effect tenant turnover. That is why it is crucial to insulate the ceilings, walls, and floors with a material that effectively controls sound in buildings generating these types of complaints and symptoms. The Hotel/Motel industry and multi-family housing owners especially benefit from the superior sound control properties of cellulose insulation by providing sound controlled living environments that can be used to attract new tenants or help keep the old ones.

Handi-Foam has been put to the Test!
The best way to determine effectiveness is to conduct reliable, scientific tests. Sound Transmission Class (STC) is a laboratory measurement used to study the resistance of a wall, ceiling, or floor to the passage of sound. The higher the STC number, the more sound is deadened. The STC chart provided gives examples of STC ratings.
Ideal For Multifamily & Commercial Use:
In situations where sound control is even more critical, Handi-Foam has proven extremely effective in thousands of applications. In the Hotel/Motel industry, physical plants with on-site offices and apartment and town home or condominium complexes. In addition to excellent sound control, Handi-Foam dramatically reduces operating costs by reducing energy usage and utility costs.
Insulating New Structures:
Simply apply 1" of Handi-Foam 1.75lb Density foam on the interior of walls, underside of floors, or anywhere a sound barrier is needed. Applying more than 1" is not necessary, and will only improve results by a minimal amount. We do not recommend more than one inch as we consider it a waste of time, foam, and money. One inch will give excellent results.
Insulating Existing Structures:
FOMO's Slow Rise Handi-Foam is formulated to slowly rise over the course of 90 seconds. This allows you to fill existing wall cavities without removing any drywall.
How to do it:
Simply drill 3 x" wholes in your wall between each stud, the first 1/3 up, the second 2/3, an the 3rd 3/4 of the way up. Begin by spraying in the bottom whole for approximately 15 seconds. The foam will remain gelatinous for 90 seconds giving it time to creep down to the bottom of your cavity.
